Huber Ridge Area

Curfew/After hours

Posted in: Huber Ridge Area

I just recently moved to Blendon Township.   And my immediate neighbor and his family are always keeping late hours, slamming their vehicle doors and yelling standing outside their garage (which is right by my bedroom) after midnight every single night.  Is there something that I can do about this?  Are their any rules/laws that can be enforced?

I want to remain in this area, but I would like some peace and quiet and don't want a confrontation.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Plus, what is up with the motorcycles running in circles around the neighborhood?  Don't they have a place they can ride to?

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

In spite of what you have already experienced, welcome to the neighborhood.  In my opinion, Huber Ridge, especially in the last two years, has benefited from significant improvement particularly because we now have a code enforcement officer (zoning).

Our police department has always been very responsive to issues; therefore, I hope you will get your concerns resolved so you can have peace.

I will forward your post to the police department for their advice about the late night disturbances.  I will ask what laws may apply; maybe we can post these laws and try to educate all of us.

Regarding the motorcycles, I suppose as long as they are not violating any speed laws, they are permitted.  (Do you think it is someone in the learning process?)  If they are violating speed laws, then you should report it to the dispatcher at 889-9494.

Hope this helps.  If you would like to join block watch, please email me.

Hello Michelle,

Sgt Branch Wayt responded to my email which included these posts.  He wrote:

In general...If noises disrupt the peace and quiet of night time hours (nothing written in the law to define time of night) BTPD can respond to investigate the type of noise and determine if it is criminal in nature or that of disturbing the peace. If it is a party the BTPD can issue citation for the disturbance after a verbal warning. If it is just noises as described, in most cases we can try to find the source and ask the noise makers to respect the area neighbor's peace. This works the majority of the time but not all the time. This is definitely the down side of living in a subdivision with immediate neighbors on all sides.

As for the motorcycles... dirt bike?...street legal?...need more info to properly respond.

Hope this helps you,
