Huber Ridge Area

I just noticed the spare tire mounted under my husband's truck was stolen sometime last night.  The truck was parked on the street - Paris Blvd. North - and we're just a few houses from Dempsey, so we get plenty of through-traffic.  There are streetlights at Dempsey and we all keep our front porch lights on at night.  If someone can steal a spare tire in those conditions, imagine what they can do in a more secluded spot.  Beware.

Hi, neighbor!

I trust you reported the theft to the police.  Your post underscores the need for neighbors to commit to block watch.  You have listed favorable conditions on your street for crime deterrent, i.e., high traffic, lights, but the most important component is people who watch and are willing to report.  Some people watch but do not suspect, so they do not call.  Others suspect, but do not call.  And to be realistic, thieves are quick.  Even the most watched can go unnoticed.

There will be a block watch educational meeting for our communty early April.  I am trying to determine the best date and secure a speaker.  More to come.
