The toilet is the main wasteful use of water, correct, low flow is the best way to go. they pay for themselves in months. but occasionally you have to check your toilets for leakage, do so by removing the back of your toilet and place a few drops of food coloring in the reservoir. if the toilet bowl water turns any shade of color you have a leak. I have been contacted by several residents whom have received spikes in their bill and i have found the toilets to be the root cause. after replacement the water/sewer bill went way down. our water bill used to run $150 a month, with 3 low flow toilets installed it dropped to $100 per. we since bought a whirlpool cabrio washing machine and it measures by weight the water per use and our bill is approx $77 per month. there are several tips listed on this post that are very helpful, as i have only named a few here. if anyone is interested please feel free to contact me for assistance/help 614.882.8959.
As you may be aware Aqua Ohio is trying to purchase OAWC, I have met with the President and COO of Aqua Ohio and have opened a line of communication hopefully to improve the customer service and service to our residents and customers should the purchase go through. while this is only the first step in hopefully many steps to find a suitable solution, we still need to oppose the current water/sewer rate application by OAWC, letters to the PUCO is a great start.
Thank You
