Hi,
Presently, you can email Joe Bailey of Franklin County at jbbailey@franklincountyohio.gov. Our Home Rule will be in effect, I believe, with the new year. But just to be sure, you may want to contact our own Bryan Rhoads and run the question past him. Bryan.Rhoads@blendontwp.org. The phone number on the website is 614-839-2013
I commend you for checking and wanting to do things the correct, safe way.
Happy Thanksgiving! |

Eight years ago we had a screened porch that had only screens and no electric. We hired a contractor to remodel. We needed a building permit and had to comply with the Franklin County model energy codes. That meant that the foundation needed to be insulated (dig around the outside and place foam board down to 3 feet) and the ceiling had to be dropped to insulate with 12 inches of insulation. We had a rough -in inspection and when it was finished we needed an occupancy permit. I wanted a wall of windows but was limited to the number of windows by the square footage of the room(energy calculation). That was 8 years ago. Things may have changed but I am sure the energy efficiency requirements are the same if not more strict. If I wanted a wall of windows I was told I would need to dig up the entire floor and replace it with an insulated floor. That would have doubled the cost. Not sure what you are working with but do your homework before starting. |
