To start with, I am glad to see the Westerville / Blendon Township fire divisions working together. At the same time, we in the township should be able to reep the benefits that Westerville offers. We go to Westerville schools, pay Westerville school taxes. By the way, we don't have to pay Westerville CITY taxes. Ask how many Blendon Township residents work in Westerville. Ask how many Blendon Township residents purchase products in Westerville. Think about it.

Yes, we pay Westerville City school taxes and our children get the benefit of attending Westerville schools.  So we are reaping that benefit.  Because of our shared agreement with Westerville Fire, we also reap the benefit of the excellent Westerville fire department.  We pay Blendon Township taxes for our excellent road service, our government, and our excellent service department.  Because we do not pay Westerville city taxes, (unless one works in Westerville, of course), we are considered non-residents.  Of course we purchase products in Westerville, but the sales tax rate is based on the county, not the city.  Many purchase items in Blendon and they do not get the benefit of our road service and police.  Many in Strawberry Farms would love to have the response time our police provide and the diligence of our service department.

Thanks for your input,

Pam Clegg

Because I cannot edit, may I correct myself and add that our taxes pay for our excellent police, duplicated road and service department!
