Cannot answer the question re: liens.  Suggest you go to a trustee meeting and ask the township admin.  Unfortunately code enforcement cannot do anything about litter  that is dumped at night and found the next day.  The culprit(s) are long gone. I took some time to reply because I wanted to see if  I would receive any further comments. I can only assume 1) people agree with me so no further comment is needed,  2) few people visit this web site, or 3) nobody reads anymore. When newspapers go out of business, magazines cease publishing  because of lack of readership, and the attention span of  the average American is 45 seconds, which is how long it takes to read the comment stream at the bottom of the TV screen -  my guess is it is 3. The condition of our neighborhood  suggests our sense of community  is in deep trouble.  We   have become a nation of  "MY" and "ME" and  the concept of  "WE The People"  has been sacrificed  on the altar of individualism.

The sad truth is that the people who don't care enough to clean up their neighborhood also don't care enough to find this discussion board.  My husband and I walk 2 miles through the neighborhood every night and are disgusted by what we see, but you can't make people care.

True, neighbor.  It is like the proverbial, you can lead a horse to water but you can not make him drink syndrome - but I still have hope.

I think often that WE as a COMMUNITY could improve the value of homes and make our community a DESIRABLE community.  If only WE would.  So, for those who will not care, at least we have code enforcement to make them comply.  But I would prefer that more than comply, all would care.

The best news I have heard recently was that Huber Homes sold their properties.  I have hope that the new owners will be good neighbors.

MStaud, I thought of two things:

1.  As you walk, you could carry notepad and pen and jot down addresses that need attention.  Send the addresses along with issues to our code enforcement director, Branch Wayt.

2.  Your post is evidence that there ARE those who care.  They may not post as you have and they may not be able to attend meetings or communicate their concerns, but they notice the condition of the community.  May each of us take responsibility for our property and may those in leadership take not.

Thanks,

Pam Clegg
