Huber Ridge Area

Moving to the Community

Posted in: Huber Ridge Area

Hi! My name is Ashley and my family is considering putting in an offer near Dakar in the next few days. I enjoy being involved in the community and came upon this board when researching the area. I was curious as to some of the things to consider if I choose to move to the area. I do have a newborn so safety is important to me. Would you still recommend moving to the Huber Ridge area and has anyone had any issues with safety or significant drops in home values? I'm sure if the transaction moves forward, you will hear from me more as a participant in bettering the community. Thank you so much for your comments and advise.

Hi Ashley, We moved into the neighborhood about a year and a half ago with an eighteen month old and I can say that so far we have felt really good about our decision. Our street is nice and quiet, with lots of neighbors home during the day walking dogs and pushing strollers. There is a playground, an elementary school and a church all IN the neighborhood, which is so great. I regularly check the crime maps and have almost never see anything in the neighborhood (like, for months at a time).. The Blendon Township police drive through a couple of times each day just to keep an eye on things, which I personally love. I see people jogging after dark every night, too, which is always a good sign! The only negative things I hear regularly are about junky houses and the water bill being high, and there are designated people to complain about that to. It's not the fanciest neighborhood around, but it's been great for us!

Hi Ashley,

I hope you decide to join our community.  You'll find that this neighborhood of 1600+ homes is actually pretty homey but best of all there are very friendly neighbors.  Big things are happening within our township too to improve a variety of things namely we just voted in a JEDZ to help draw in more businesses and we also voted in Home Rule.  But getting back to the neighborhood, you'll also find that something somewhat unique to Huber is that many people who were raised here, often times bring their own families back because of the great community feel.  My husband is one such person.  Actually at one time his parents, his grandmother and his great aunt all had homes in the Ridge.  We bought  his grandmother's home and raised our son here. Additionally we have many very long time residents.  Some are original owners living in some of the first homes built in the Ridge....last year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of this community!

We also have a VERY active association, Huber Ridge Area Association, Inc. which includes an alert and active Blockwatch program.  We have many events throughout the year, coming up with have a few that you can see on the main page and just this year we added concerts in the park, but we also have many vehicles for communication including this board, but also a Facebook page, quarterly newsletters as well as monthly association meetings.

Residents do a lot of work to keep their home values from dropping.  Of course there are the ones that don't but for the most part neighbors care about their homes and invest in them.  Just this past weekend we had our annual garden show that showcased many of the beautiful gardens built and maintained by our talented neighbors.  I always say some of the best kept secrets in this neighborhood are the gardens!

Well, hope to hear from you soon when you decide to move in!

We are in contract = ) Thank you for your responses and I look forward to joining the community. We will probably start attending some activities in the near future to get to know our neighbors. I would love to meet some other moms with newborns if your on here. Paxton is four months old and would love play dates haha!
