We hope to provide you with the tape of last night's Group Home meeting soon.

One important point made by Trustee Stewart Flaherty last night was this: Our Representative Anne Gonzales and our Senator Kevin Bacon need to hear from us. On the tape, you will hear Trustee Flaherty explain the importance of the legislation that Rep. Gonzales is ALREADY WORKING ON. You will also hear him say that Senator Bacon is not on board yet.

When things hit our pocket book, like the water rates, we care, and rightly so. This issue does ultimately affect our pocket book, but immediately affects our peace. What price can we put on our peace?

Once again I will post the contact information for Rep. Gonzales and Senator Bacon. Please thank Rep. Gonzales and tell her you support her efforts.

Senator Bacon will only listen to the vocal and the majority. I am writing him again to let him know that he will not receive my vote if he does not make this issue a priority. That is my personal view, of course.

My letter to Senator Bacon: December 4, 2013

Honorable Senator Bacon:

I recently wrote you asking for your support in drafting legislation to regulate Community Group Homes. Rep. Gonzales, as you know, is already working on such legislation for the House, and your action on this matter in the Senate is greatly needed.

In learning about the systems that direct our troubled youth, it appears there are serious disconnects. These disconnects are no doubt the reason one like Jordan T. Stewart, who mercilessly murdered Jane Juergens, was in a group home and not under better care and supervision.

I am sure you have educated yourself on this situation and I need not add detail. But please know that we in the Clegg home take this matter seriously. In the Clegg home there are four voters. We will vote for those who make this matter a priority, and I will personally work against those who do not.

Please assure us you will make this a matter of priority. I would appreciate hearing from you.
