At the last Blendon Township Trustee meeting, an issue was raised regarding house numbers and their importance when emergency workers are called to a residence. The International Maintenance Code adopted by Blendon Township requires that all buildings in the township must be properly identified:
Section 304.3 Premises Identification. Buildings should have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers should contrast from their background. Address numbers should be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Numbers should be a minimum of 4 inches (102 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch (12.7 mm)
Be sure to check the front of your home to be sure your house numbers are clearly visible and legible from the street and if they are not, make corrections. Are you willing to risk that if you need to be located in an emergency that your house number could not be easily read?
