Me again, sorry! I am curious if there is any route currently for the Huber Ridge residents to have access to the bike paths? Or plans for the future? I know that there is one that runs down by Casto Park, but to my knowledge the only way to access it is to go accross the street to Strawberry Farms which is dangerous for our kids (and even adults). Living off of Harbin it seems there could be an open access there. Westerville Road and 161 are too dangerous for bike riders.

Bike Path
Hi Nancy, (Pam again)
My husband and I have taken these paths. We access it via Westerville Road to Cooper or by turning into Westerville Crossing - OR from Dempsey Road cross Westerville Road, take the service road in front of Grismer back to Kokosing and pick up the path.
Westerville Road is not the safest, true. Maybe you could approach our trustees with a recommendation. They meet this Wednesday night 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. Hearing from you would be best, in my opinion. I assume out trustees would know whom to contact to work this out.
If you cannot attend and want to make a request via another advocate, Jim Welch usually attends these meetings. He could make your request on your behalf. Just let him know.
Thanks again, Pam

Bike Paths to Huber Ridge
My wife and I enjoy the bicycle paths and found the closest shortcut by trial and error.
There is a branch of the bike path that travels north from Cooper Road and crosses Alum Creek before passing under I-270. As you approach the 270 underpass there is a branch on your right that travels east to pass by the Kokosing Office running parallel to 270. This runs to Emrick and comes out by the Speedway at Westerville Rd (Rt. 3) and Dempsey.
Coming from Huber Ridge, we walk our bikes across the intersection at Dempsey Rd and Westerville Rd near the Speedway. The street that runs next to Grismer Tire is Emrick and it runs north before turning west to the entrance of Kokosing. Keep your eye to the right of the road and you will see the bike path (unmarked) or continue to ride into the parking lot and travel to the north side of the lot to access the bike path.
The path is fairly flat but is slightly steep as it approaches the principal path running parallel to Alum Creek and the underpass of 270.
It is always preferable to not ride alone and children (plus some adults) should be reminded that it is sometimes better to walk their bikes across busy traffic or intersections that are rough or have loose gravel.
Having a path that connects directly to the bike path from Huber Ridge would be nice but we have the matter of crossing Alum Creek to get to the path from Cooper Road. We ride to the traffic light at Paris and Westerville Roads and then walk our bikes across the bridge to the south until we feel comfortable to start riding again.
We hope to see more people using the bike paths!

no apology needed
currently there is no immediate (convient) access to the bike path's from the ridge. you are not the only one to ask this question, i have had several people call on this issue. to not use this website for political gain, i will just state that this will be worked on by me in the next year. i believe we could access these path's off harbin - in front of the huber rentals office. this would take some planning and research, and alot of township support. do not expect fast immediate results, but i plan to address this issue and hopefully with some results.
thank you
