Does anyone know how long we have this contract with Rumpke?  Their customer service is ridiculous and every other week we get a note about something.  Last week, it was that we didn't have our bin close enough to the curb----it was about 6 inches away.  I miss Local Waste!!

It was just renewed, but I do not recall the details.  (I am answering your post because I saw it and do not want you to think you are being ignored.)

It is my understanding that they were the only trash company that bid on being part of the consortium.  The township trustees checked ti out and determined that a consortium will save us money in the long run.

I will direct people to your post who will have better answers for you.

You are not alone in your feelings about missing Local Waste.  Many have shared the same.  Personally, I have adjusted to Rumpke because I do appreciate the recycling pickup at the curb.

Hi Again, Neighbor.

Trustee Stewart Flaherty responded to my question about the contract.  He said,

The contract is for 5 years with a possible two year extension. I’d like to see the notes that they are getting so we can talk to Rumpke.

So if you still have the note, please take or mail it to Trustee Stewart Flaherty, 6330 Hempstead Road, Westerville 43081.  The next trustee meeting is Wednesday, August 19, 6:30 p.m., if you would like to give it to him personally.

Thanks for the information.  I am disappointed to hear that we signed a 5-year contract.  I've heard from a lot of people that they miss Local Waste too.  It's unfortunate that we are paying more and getting less. 

Also, another frustration is that we apparently have "inappropriate" containers.  We rent a bin from them but sometimes have excess and put it into a box or clear plastic garbage receptacle that we use for overflow.  They have actually left the garbage behind in both of these instances.  Local Waste would pick up a kleenex from my driveway if it had fallen out of ANYTHING we put our garbage in for pick-up.  Unbelievable difference in service!

Sounds like not much can be done so I guess we'll just have to do our best to accommodate their rules.
