We are new to the neighborhood and received our first waterbill.  It was for $90.  Our household is made up of two adults and one toddler.  Is this an average bill for Blendon Twnship?  I spoke with friends that live in Westerville, Worthington and Columbus and their bills are less with more usage.  Thanks for any input.

Unfortunately, that's about right.  Mine run between $130 and $160 per month for a family of 4.  It's a Blendon Township thing.

Welcome to the neighborhood, sincerely.

Unfortunately the water/sewer bill is a major draw back to a very nice community such as Huber Ridge. The areas you spoke of  have city water/sewer and portions of Blendon Township as well as portions throughout the state of Ohio have a private water/sewer company called Ohio American Water company (OAWC). While city water/sewer services are supposedly not for profit and don't pay property taxes, OAWC is for profit and does pay property taxes. So that is their claim to why our prices are so high as comparison.

As a community we have been actively fighting OAWC and their absurd rates for the last few years with some success. The ultimate goal in the eyes of every home owner is to get rid of them. unfortunately it sounds easier than it really is to do. I have worked actively against these rates for quit some time and the space here is very limited to write in detail all explanations and results. All I can say is hang in there to all the residents and please participate in the ongoing call to action in our endeavor to reign in the skyrocketing rates OAWC has dealt us as a community. I will continue my efforts to achieve what every human deserves and needs in life, what the residents of  Blendon Township deserve, a quality water/sewer product at a reasonable price.

As i had stated earlier the water/sewer bill is a major draw back, but this community and the numerous communities of Blendon Township have many positive aspects that you will come to know in the near future.  While we work together to rectify the water situation, enjoy what the community and the township has to offer. -This list also is to long to elaborate here.

Again welcome to the community. If you should have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me.

Dear new neighbor,

Welcome!  Jim has answered you well, because Jim is truly the expert in the community on the water company (OAW).  He did not mention this (humility) but he is our new trustee - recently appointed by Judge Alan Acker.  Jim has been association president for almost five years, and for five years, he has worked tirelessly for the community on the water issue.

It is a shame that each new resident goes into shock when they get their water bill.  Jim knows, as many know, that "Unfortunately the water/sewer bill is a major drawback to a very nice community such as Huber Ridge."    Indeed, and that needs to change.

May we (residents) all do our part  is the best I can offer; may our leaders do the same.

Pam Clegg, neighbor on Makassar - would love to meet you!
