Dear Neighbor,

I agree that street lights are also needed and should certainly be considered by our trustees.  I have mentioned this in the past, but probably not to the right people and probably not in an official manner.

I would like street lights to be especially considered at the various bus stops in the neighborhood.  It is SO dark in the morning when groups of students are waiting at the corners of Brazzaville/Cairo and Manila/Karikal, for example.  I know streetlights are costly, but they truly give a neighborhood a better appearance - particularly when they line a street.  I would LOVE to see lampposts lining the street.  An added and most important benefit of street lights - they can be a deterrent to crime.

So, now that I have said this to you and whomever reads this, I will write a letter to our trustees and request their help in getting streetlights for the community.  Will you join me in this endeavor?

I assume you don't ride.

I don't think the signs are a waste of money.  Too many folks in cars think the road belongs to them only, and the bike should be up on the sidewalk.

I do think there are to many of them however.  You could reduce the frequency by 1/2 and still be effective.  Then use the extras in other areas.

Hi, neighbor Chorvath,

I think the frequency is based on intersecting streets and is for the benefit of those who may not encounter the one previous.  Regardless, I am still excited to see them.  I agree, they are worth the money because they should heighten driver's awareness and therefore encourage safety for riders.

I finally noticed the ones on Paris Blvd.  Maybe more are coming, but it SO positive that they are presently on the most traveled streets in the community.

The signs posted for the share the road were part of a neighborhood grant. This money was not spent from the Township budget. It is part of our community plan and with the help of the Franklin County Development dept. we are getting more community projcets completed. As far as street lights for a community, this is a problem we have dealt with for years, the last time we checked on this issue, you needed 100% of the community affected to send a pettition to the Board of trustees saying they want street lights. Then the fiscal officer can do the proper tax assessments for that area and charge the homeowners the cost of installing, maintaining and the monthly electric bill for the street lights. I hope this sheds light (no pun intended) on the question asked about lighting.
