Dear Neighbors,
We had a very successful Ridgewood Park cleanup day on April 23, again this year. I didn't get a chance to personally thank all of those who helped, but know I do appreciate you taking time from your busy lives to make a difference in our community.
Over the years, this event has grown from being a service project for Boy Scout Troop 560 to being a joint project of the troop and Huber Ridge Area Association, and now being partially underwritten by my employer, The McGraw-Hill Companies. Fortunately, our Blendon Township trustees and staff have supported me in this undertaking every year. For this I thank them.
I would like to think that because of our efforts, we have made a significant impact on the value of our homes—in spite of the economy—for the better. This park has been the benefactor of many Boy Scout Eagle scout projects over the years. Along with those projects, the township has made many improvements there. It's a wonderful place for family recreation, as is its intention. If you haven't been there in the past couple years, you need to take time to check it out! This is the perfect time of year to take a hike along the trail in the woods. We have many wildflowers blooming! Please take time to sit and relax on one of the benches. It's our park: enjoy it!!
I'd like to express my gratitude to all those who, in any way, helped contribute to the success of the day. As our Huber Ridge Area Association president Jim Welch says: "You CAN and DO make a DIFFERENCE!"
