Huber Ridge Area

Dear Neighbors,

Last week my house was broken into around 12:00 am Tuesday 5, 2008.  They took about $3000 of dollars worth of stuff. But the scary thing is that my girlfriend was asleep in the house these people can in.  THE REASON I SAY "THEY" is that tonight I surprised two "boys" hopping my fence tonight.  They were both smoking cigarettes and when I tried to confront them they said, " AWE FUCK RUN... RUN... RUN"  I believe they were coming back to get what they could not carry the first time.  I live at the end of Montevideo Rd and my yard backs up to the walking path.  I believe that the two boys walked up to my house via the path.  This is a warning and a cry for help to all my neighbors.  The items stolen are as follows.

1) 1 laptop (silver)

2) and olive green paintball gun w/Carbon fiber tank, carbon fiber barrel, and a white loader with stickers on it

3) a BB Gun rifle (Black)

4) My girlfriends purse with I.D. , Debit Card, Credit Card, $180, and her perscriptions

5)  "Fllip" Video recorder. about the same shape as an iPOD (White and Red/pinkish)

6) AIPTEK electroinic camcorder, camera, mp3 player, voice recorder (silver)

So EVERYONE who lives backed up to the woods Be on HIGH Alert

Dear Neighbor,

I am very sorry that you, and especially your girlfriend, experienced such a thing.  (It happened to me years ago in another neighborhood.)  By now you must have filed a police report, so I will list your theft on the website (even though the report is not listed on the activity bulletin I just received.)

Yes, neighbors should lock up, light up, listen, watch, and report.  We could use a block watch rep for Montevideo - please let me know if you are interested.

I hope you were able to get a good description of the "boys."   Would love to talk to you more about this.  If you are willing, please email me.

P.S.  Neighborhood link might take issue with one word in your post.  I am not certain how they will do so, but they have their rules.  Just wanted you to know in case it gets deleted.

I live in Blendon Woods Civic Association and was checking the Huber Ridge website. The report of the break in is somewhat helpful, especially with the listing of the items stolen, but the victim should have listed how they broke into the house. (window, door, screen,etc) Also make sure to file a police report. If you have description of suspicious persons that hopped over your fence, you should include that also to help identify the suspects to other concerned neighbors.

Mainly, each citizen should read the Neighborhood Watch tips to help prevent breakins.

Leave outside lights on to light up the neighborhood (the minimal cost would no doubt be cheaper than having to replace stolen items)

Make sure that items of value are not visiable through open windows.

Install automatic indoor light timers ( having 2 or 3 of these automatically turning on in different rooms of the house gives the appearance of persons at home and awake) The cost is usually about $4.

Most of these tips will keep your house less vulnerable.
