I apologize if this is a topic that has been discussed many times before. I have been a resident on Panama Drive for nearly 10 years. It was not until after I moved that I noticed how many rental homes are in our neighborhood. In fact, with the exception of one house, I am surrounded by them. One in the front, 5 houses behind me and 2 to the right side. I can drive down my street and point out each and every home that is owned by Huber Home Rentals because of the lack of care and maintenance they neglect. Most of them are completely obvious because they are vacant and have no window treatments.

My biggest concern is regarding the house directly next to me (3690 Panama Dr). I notified Huber Homes Rentals that the 2nd floor window had been busted out months ago, maybe the beginning of winter or earlier. It appears that they repaired the window. However, the busted glass is still laying all over the roof over the garage. Today, my dog was outside and went into the yard. As I followed her, I noticed that now the lower level front window is busted out and there is glass everywhere. I walked around the house to see if there was any other damage to the house. I discovered that the sliding glass doors have been removed andit is boarded up. I tried to contact Huber Home Rentals and their voicemail is full. I will try again tomorrow...I am just so frustrated. I am embarrassed to have company over anymore because of how awful the houses on my street look.

My family and I are beginning to outgrow our home and are considering moving. We would like to place our house on the market this summer. I am afraid that this house next to us is going to cause a great deal of hardship on having a successful sale. I wish there was a way to get Huber Home Rentals to realize that if they invested in their homes, that they would have a much easier times filling the abundance of vacant homes in our neighborhood.

I know what you mean. I live on Caracas and there is a residence that has a lot of juck at the side s of his housw, and they use their front yard as a parking lot for truck and trailers. It makes the neighborhood look so trashy! If they owned their home mabey they would understand that we want a clean neighborhood

Hi Neighbors,

I am copying your posts and emailing them to Bryan Rhoads, our director of code enforcement.  I agree VERY much with both of you about unkempt homes and how they adversely affect the community.

For future complaints, questions about properties, etc. please email or call Bryan byran.rhoads@blendontwp.org    614 302-8248.

You may know that for YEARS our township was without our own code enforcement.  Having Bryan as our director is relatively new for us, (only two years) and he has been one busy man.  Prior to Bryan, we had to rely on Franklin County Code enforcement.  They did a great job, but too few people knew what their recourse was and whom to contact.

Bryan does a great job.  He needs our help with reporting, and with making sure we follow codes ourselves.  It will only help our community as a whole.

Warm Regards,

Pam Clegg, neighbor on Makassar
